Opportunity:

Medical Technologist - Laboratory

Job Details:

* Shift work including nights and weekend call required to provide 24-hour laboratory coverage
* Work under minimal supervision, applying advanced technical skills and seasoned judgment
* Perform all levels of testing including CLIA defined high complexity testing
* Work with patients across all age groups including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
* Evaluate, judge, and interpret test results to ensure accuracy
* Identify and resolve inconsistencies in patient results and troubleshoot problems with MLTs and LSTs
* Provide specialized expertise in microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, and infectious disease safety
* Perform patient specimen testing and ensure sample suitability
* Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments and ensure quality control and functionality
* Write procedures for department of responsibility using CLSI format and coordinate procedure manual review and updates
* Establish and maintain a quality control program appropriate for testing performed
* Resolve technical problems and ensure remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications
* Assist laboratory manager with evaluating competency of testing personnel and Process Improvement activities
* Assist laboratory manager with implementing CAP standards and CLIA regulations
* Train new employees, MEH staff, and laboratory students
* Coordinate inventory levels with laboratory manager to maintain proper supply levels
* Blood bank and phlebotomy experience is a plus
* Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required
* Minimum of 3 years of experience required
* Active ASCP or AMT certification required upon submittal
* Flu vaccine required
* Must live at least 100 miles away from the facility address
