Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/ICU Step-Down

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM or 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute meal break
* Flex weekend and holiday requirements
* No block scheduling or self-scheduling available for agency nursing
* If low census, may be placed on low needs status
* Possible floating to the ED as a helping hand during code/trauma if assigned to code team
* 32-bed unit with a daily census of 17.5
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 Med Surg, 1:1 to 1:3 ICU/Step-Down, 1:2 to 1:4 IMC
* Two nurse aides scheduled per shift
* Charge nurse takes assignments alongside a house supervisor
* Common diagnoses include COPD, Pneumonia, AFib RVR, DKA, CIWA, and Cardio patients
* Required skills include phlebotomy, IV starts, EKG, telemetry monitoring, cardioversions, and titrating drips
* RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips
* Common titratable drips include pressors, insulin, anticoagulants, epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, and angiotensin-II
* RT coverage available 22 hours a day, 7 days a week with equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
* Charting system: Cerner
* One day of orientation with an RN
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* Navy blue scrubs required, no hoodies
* BSN not required

The unit is supported by a dedicated charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse aides each shift, ensuring a collaborative and well-structured care environment.
