Job Details:

* Work three 12-hour shifts per week, which can be a combination of the following shifts (must include at least one 0800-2030 shift per week): 0500-1730, 0600-1830, 0700-1930, or 0800-2030
* 21-bed unit providing Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery as well as moderate sedation recovery
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase 1 1:2, Phase 2 1:3
* Care for typical anesthesia recovery and sedation patients including outpatients and inpatients
* Common cases include heart catheterizations (left and right), EP procedures (pacemakers, ablations, EP studies), structural heart procedures (TAVRs, LAAOs, mitral clips, PFO closures), vascular procedures (carotid endarterectomies, carotid stents, bypasses, AAA repairs, angiograms), thoracic procedures (hiatal hernia repairs, lung resections, mediastinoscopies, EGD), and CT surgery (CABGs/valves, LVADs)
* ICU patients are occasionally recovered in the PACU
* RNs read strips
* Perioperative Care Assistants (PCAs) available with 3-5 per day covering the unit collectively
* General awareness of RT equipment required; RT sets up and manages equipment
* Will not float to other units
* Call is required and will be assigned if needed; call shifts include weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and hospital-recognized holidays, rotating equally through nurse roster
* Call hours are 0600-1830 with a one-hour response time
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks
* Scrubs provided in Ceil Blue
* Charting system: EPIC
* 1 year of PACU experience required; cardiac experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
* BSN not required

This Level 1 Trauma Center is an acute care facility offering a comprehensive Heart and Vascular Institute with a dedicated pre and post-procedural unit. The facility handles a high volume of complex cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and structural heart procedures, supported by a multidisciplinary team including Perioperative Care Assistants and Respiratory Therapists.
