PACU/Preop/Phase II RN

Job Details:

* 13-week assignment
* 3x12 day shift schedule with variable shift times: 7:00 AM?7:00 PM, 8:00 AM?8:00 PM, 9:00 AM?9:00 PM, 10:00 AM?10:00 PM, or 11:00 AM?11:00 PM
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period; may be called off for one 12-hour shift per 2-week period
* On-call required: 1 call shift per week
* Call shifts are primarily overnight (10:30 PM?7:00 AM); all nurses must choose either one Saturday night or one Sunday night call shift
* Limited daytime call shifts available: nurses may choose only one Sunday 6:30 AM?7:00 PM or one Sunday 10:00 AM?7:00 PM call shift
* Nurses must be at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called; call sleep rooms are available on site
* Patient ratio is 2:1 across days, nights, and weekends
* May float to like units to meet facility needs
* Pediatric experience preferred
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Alaska RN license must be in hand for offer
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
* Charting system: Epic (preferred experience)
* Scrubs provided by facility
* Parking is free
* Skills required include: Phase I PACU, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, central line care/management, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, reversal agents, conscious sedation, post-epidural management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, RASS, and care of ventilated patients
* Patient age groups served: neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* All RTO must be requested upfront at time of submittal
* Locals not accepted; candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility

Facility:

This facility is a 407-bed acute care hospital recognized as a Magnet Facility and a Level II Trauma Center, and has been named a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital in Alaska. The PACU unit consists of 16 beds with a daily census of approximately 40 patients. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
