Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts
* Every other weekend rotation required (Saturday and Sunday)
* Holiday rotation required - at least 2 out of 3 winter holidays, otherwise typically every other holiday during the contract
* Michigan license required in hand prior to start
* Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
* Trauma Level IV facility - stroke and STEMI patients are transferred out
* 14-bed emergency department with 2 trauma bays and a Fast Track area with 3 designated rooms
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day, higher ratios at night after 11:00 PM, with only 2 RNs after 3:00 AM until 7:00 AM
* Common patient diagnoses include traumas, STEMIs, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farm-related injuries with an average of 40-60 patients per day
* ED Physician on-site 24/7 along with mid-level providers
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7 in-house for ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
* 24/7 phlebotomy services available for lab draws
* RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips at central monitoring station
* X-ray available down the hall 24/7 and CT located within close proximity
* Travelers may perform triage after review and understanding of facility policies and procedures
* Variable shift start times with rotation required - manager creates schedule
* Floating to inpatient units may be required to assist as needed
* Dress code: any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
* Orientation includes computer-based training, 2 days of floor orientation, and department-specific policy review
* All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
* Cancellation policy: client may cancel up to 12 hours every 13 weeks

This acute care facility operates a fully equipped emergency department with 14 beds and 2 trauma bays, providing around-the-clock emergency services to the surrounding community. The department features a Fast Track area, dedicated triage rooms, and flexible psych/seclusion capabilities to accommodate a wide variety of patient needs. The facility supports staff with 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and radiology services, ensuring a comprehensive care environment for both patients and clinical staff.
