Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

* Night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend and holiday required
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 during day shift (0700-1900) and 1:5-6 during night shift (1900-0730)
* 15-bed unit caring for post-surgical patients including orthopedic, urology, GYN/ONC, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, and GI cases, as well as acute medical patients with short anticipated length of stay
* 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
* Required to titrate drips including heparin, and occasionally nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and insulin
* Telemetry monitoring present with strips run and monitored by remote technicians using GE telemetry system
* Nursing assistants present on unit with RNs taking lower ratios on night shifts without nursing assistant coverage
* Respiratory therapy support available; equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy - no ventilators
* Charge nurse on all shifts takes assignment; house supervisor present on all shifts
* Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
* Block scheduling used to best ability dependent on staffing; no self-scheduling
* Scrubs must be any color, clean and professional
* Orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation based on skills
* Charting system: Cerner
* BSN not required
* Required certification: BLS (AHA)
