Opportunity:

CNA II - Critical Access Hospital

Job Details:

* Provide basic nursing care to non-acute and/or acutely ill residents while maintaining a safe and clean environment
* Accept delegation from supervising Licensed Nurse (LN) and maintain accountability for all actions taken
* Obtain nursing data through interviewing and observing residents under a LN's direction
* Document observation findings consistent with other providers under LN supervision
* Provide general nursing care for adult and geriatric populations including bed baths, oral hygiene, hair care, back care, and patient dressing
* Apply appliances for heat and cold, anti-embolism stockings, and SCDs
* Monitor and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse oximetry, and intake/output measurements
* Collect and transport specimens to correct departments
* Report abnormal findings to LN and document changes in patient condition or behavior
* Provide bedside care including positioning, lifting, and turning residents, assisting with bedpan/urinal/commode use, and answering call lights
* Ambulate residents and transport to and from various departments as required
* Assist residents with meals and aid in the care of residents' belongings throughout their stay
* Perform room maintenance including changing bed linens, cleaning over-bed tables and bedside stands
* Provide 1:1 care and sitting for residents when indicated for patient safety
* Prepare nursing areas and resident rooms for admissions, transfers, emergencies, or discharges
* Perform supply duties daily including distributing and ordering supplies to maintain adequate stock levels
* Dispose of solid and infectious waste according to organizational policies and procedures
* Obtain 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
* Train and perform telemetry monitoring of patients within the inpatient unit
* Become a Point of Care Trainer within 3 months of hire
* Cross-train to additional hospital areas including Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, and Surgical Department
* Cross-train to Senior Office Specialist/Ward Clerk positions
* Initiate and participate in a Performance/Process Improvement project within the unit
* Serve as preceptor for incoming CNA staff and CNA students
* Current full, unrestricted CNA license in the state of Alaska required at time of submission
* Current BLS certification required
* Must submit 2 fingerprint cards upon acceptance
* 1 year of prior CNA experience preferred
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Must complete courses specific to unit needs including POC/waived testing
