Opportunity:
Medical Technologist
Job Details:
* Day shift position working a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
* First three days of rotation are 12-hour shifts from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* Last four days of rotation are 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
* Potential for on-call responsibilities with shared weekend and daily on-call hours among staff technologists
* Certification/Registration with ASCP, NCA, NCA, or equivalent registry required
* Phlebotomy experience required
* Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required
* Computer skills required to communicate with medical and technical personnel
* Bilingual a plus
* Perform EKGs, phlebotomies, therapeutic phlebotomies, arterial and capillary collections using age-related techniques
* Coordinate testing procedures and clinical data with medical staff for the Laboratory Department
* Clarify physician orders and answer questions about orders, specimens, and results
* Maintain standards in routine, timed, and STAT testing with ability to set priorities
* Prepare and monitor quality control charts, instrument function checks, and maintenance protocols
* Demonstrate broad knowledge of all laboratory departments
* Assist in orientation and training of new employees
* Maintain clean and safe working environment and support workplace safety
* Follow proper procedures when laboratory equipment is not functioning properly
* Correlate results with diagnosis and question all incompatible results
* Ensure preventive maintenance is documented
* Demonstrate competency in patient safety and reduction of medical/healthcare errors
