Open Position: Lab Specialist - Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Details:

* 4x10-hour variable day shifts
* Start time is 2130, but may flex to 2000 as needed
* Rotating weekends and holidays required - weekends may exceed every other to accommodate unit needs
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
* No on-call required
* No floating required
* Facility is able to call off once per two-week pay period
* Minimum 2 years of experience required - hard stop
* Seasoned traveler with multiple travel assignments in blood bank required
* Blood bank experience required - must be recent/current within 2 years
* Trauma Level I experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
* Experience in a large hospital (300+ beds) required
* Epic charting system experience required
* Wellsky and Immucor Instrumentation experience preferred
* Must have experience with blood bank software - any software accepted but required hard stop
* Will see 30-50 samples per day with high volume type/screen and crossmatch
* Clinician will work fully independent at night - must be able to work alone with confidence
* Required certifications: ASCP-BB
* Preferred certifications: Clinical Immunohematology Scientist
* Required skills include: ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, Accessioning, AHG Crossmatch, Antibody Typing (Tube Method), Antigen Typing, Blood banking procedures, Blood specimen storage, Cold Agglutinins, Cord Blood Evaluation, Crossmatch (Immediate Spin/IgG), Direct Coombs (DAT), Electronic Crossmatch, Hazardous materials and MSDS, Indirect Coombs Test, Patient identification process, Pipetting, Proper disposal, Proper labeling, Quality assurance and controls, Reporting test results, Rhogam Screening, Specimen Collection, Specimen Receipt, Specimen Transport, Thawing/Cooling of Blood Products, Transfusion Reaction Workup, Transmission-based precautions
* Special equipment: Epic Beaker, Wellsky, Immucor Instrumentation
* Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
* All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront at time of submittal

Facility:

This is a MAGNET-designated acute care hospital with 426 total staffed beds, providing a high-volume clinical laboratory environment. The facility operates as a Trauma Level I center and teaching hospital, supporting a busy laboratory department that processes up to 50 samples per day with high volumes of type/screen and crossmatch procedures. The facility utilizes Epic Beaker for charting and offers free parking for staff.
