RN - Cardiovascular Progressive Care

Job Details:

* Work on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit specializing in CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
* Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
* Stepdown experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass within the last year)
* CVICU experience preferred
* Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucocommander, and cardiac drip management
* Cardiac drip management includes phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
* Work with Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
* EMR system: Cerner
* No on-call requirements
* Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule period
* Flexibility to work holidays required
* Float to stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical/surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6) as needed
* Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS

Facility:

This facility is a well-established hospital featuring a dedicated Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit housed in the Heart Tower. The unit serves a primary patient population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and vascular procedures, while also receiving overflow medical cardiology patients. The unit is staffed with approximately 100 total staff members across day and night shifts, supported by charge nurses, PCTs, and health unit coordinators.
