RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

* Work 3x12-hour night shifts per week
* Weekend coverage required with 2 shifts per pay period, flexible with department needs
* Patient ratio of 1:6 for days, nights, and weekends
* 2 years of experience preferred
* Travel experience preferred with 50-mile radius rule - no local candidates
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Required certification: BLS
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Manage patients with diagnoses including sepsis, CIWA, confusion/AMS, COPD, post-op care, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation, and SI with medical indications
* Required skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, feeding tube care, heparin administration, high flow nasal cannula, insulin management, interpretation of arterial blood gases, isolation precautions/PPE, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate use of the nursing process across patient age groups
* Document thoroughly following regulatory and hospital requirements
* Must be able to work in a busy, stressful environment with changing patient safety requirements
* Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records software required
* Must demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Facility:

This facility operates a 48-bed unit with a daily census of 48 patients, supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The facility maintains a collaborative and professional clinical environment with a strong emphasis on patient safety and quality care standards.
