RN - ER/ED Float

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts within Zone 1, floating between multiple emergency departments across a 60-mile radius centered around Colorado Springs, CO
* Float facilities include: Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
* Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance; may be assigned to a single facility for the week or receive a Just-In-Time (JIT) facility assignment 1-2 hours before shift start
* Weekend requirement: every other weekend or equivalent number of weekend shifts (6-9) within a 6-week scheduling period
* Holiday requirement: every other holiday
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
* Emergency departments treat between 40-168 patients per day depending on location
* Trauma levels vary across facilities (Level 3 and Level 4); majority are STEMI and Stroke receiving facilities
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently as no monitor technicians are available
* Will be trained and perform Point-of-Care lab testing
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Charting system: EPIC
* Unit/department-specific orientation: 2-3 days
* Scrub color/dress code: Navy Blue
* Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC
* Must obtain housing that allows for feasible travel throughout the full 60-mile zone
* Cannot miss more than 3 shifts during a 13-week contract
* Must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalty fee

This float zone assignment covers multiple acute care emergency departments across a 60-mile radius, each offering a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The facilities vary in size and trauma designation, ranging from Level 3 to Level 4 trauma centers, with the majority serving as STEMI and Stroke receiving centers. Each location is supported by respiratory therapy available around the clock, technical staff assisting nurses on the floor and in triage, and a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality emergency services to their communities.
