Job Details:
* 12-hour night shifts required
* Every other weekend requirement OR the equivalent number (6-9) within a 6-week scheduling period
* Every other holiday requirement
* No on-call or standby requirement
* 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation required; must be in state for week of orientation even if first day modules are completed remotely
* Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance by leadership; travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
* Schedule follows one of two formats: Option A - scheduled at a single facility for the week with possible floating within that facility, or Option B (Just-In-Time) - facility assigned 1-2 hours before shift start via call
* Must float within Zone 3 (based around Denver City Center) - no home base facility; Zone 3 locations include OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave Emergency Room
* Travel within a 60-mile radius required; driver's license must be submitted
* Traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
* Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
* Average patient volume ranges from 40-168 patients per day, varying by location
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes mellitus, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
* RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently (no monitor technicians on unit)
* Will be trained to perform and complete Point of Care lab testing
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color/dress code: Navy Blue
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC
* Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract; missed shifts can be made up on the front or back end of requested time off
* Must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalty fee
Facility:
This floating emergency department position spans multiple acute care facilities within a 60-mile zone centered around Denver. The facilities include a mix of trauma level designations, with the majority being STEMI and stroke receiving centers. Each location features respiratory therapy available around the clock, technician support staff to assist nurses and unit secretaries, and standard emergency room equipment and medications. The facilities utilize EPIC as their charting system and maintain nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity to support quality patient care.
