Open Position: RN - ER Float Pool

Opportunity:

RN - ER/ED Float

Job Details:

* 12-hour night shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
* Every other weekend required, or the equivalent number (6-9 shifts) within a 6-week scheduling period
* Every other holiday required
* No on-call or standby requirement
* 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation required; must be in-state for week of orientation even if first day modules are completed remotely
* Must float within Zone 3 (based around Denver City Center) - facilities include OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, St. Anthony North Hospital, and 84th Ave Emergency Room; all within 60-mile radius
* No home base facility - traveler must obtain housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
* Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance; may be scheduled at a single facility for the week (Option A) or assigned a facility 1-2 hours before shift start via call (Option B - Just-In-Time)
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
* Average patient volume of 40-168 patients per day, varies by location
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
* RN required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently (no monitor tech available)
* Will be trained to perform Point-of-Care lab testing
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color/dress code: Navy Blue
* Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
* Must not miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract
* Must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalty fee
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC

Facility:

This float pool assignment spans multiple acute care facilities within a 60-mile zone centered around Denver, Colorado. The facilities vary in size and trauma designation, with the majority being STEMI and stroke receiving centers. Each location features emergency departments treating a wide range of patient volumes and acuity levels, supported by respiratory therapy available around the clock, physician and mid-level providers, and dedicated tech staff who assist nurses on the floor and in triage.
