RN - L&D/PP
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour shifts with options for day shift (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM) or night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
* Every other weekend (EOW) schedule required, with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
* First to float status applies
* L&D nurses required to float to postpartum and NICU to care for grower/feeder patients; postpartum nurses may float to L&D or NICU for in-scope tasks
* L&D nurses must have postpartum experience; postpartum nurses are not required to have L&D experience
* C-section circulation experience required; scrubbing experience not required (facility has 2 C-section suites with recovery)
* Care for high-risk deliveries of any gestational age, EMT drop-offs, substance abuse and withdrawal patients, non-English speaking patients, and patients with no prenatal care
* High-acuity patients may be transferred to UCLA or another facility as needed
* Follow AWOHNN guidelines for staffing ratios
* Utilize Cerner EMR system with FetalLink fetal monitoring system integration
* Work with Phillips telemetry system
* Respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and OB/Neonatologist support available 24/7
* OB techs on unit to assist with C-sections, deliveries, supply stocking, and patient intake
* Call shifts are optional but preferred; inquire during interview
* Holiday scheduling coordinated with permanent staff, typically one major and one minor holiday
* Scrub color: Navy
* Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
* Minimum 2-3 years of experience required; at least one prior travel contract preferred
* BSN not required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced); STABLE certification preferred
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
Facility:
This acute care facility operates a dedicated Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit featuring 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds, 27 postpartum beds, and a 5-bed nursery. The unit delivers approximately 3 births per day and over 1,500 births per year, with two C-section suites and full recovery capabilities. The facility maintains robust 24/7 support services including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and on-call OB and neonatology coverage with a 30-minute response time.
