Opportunity:
RN - NICU
Job Details:
* 13-week contract assignment
* Variable day/night shift schedule working 3x12-hour shifts per week
* Every other weekend required
* Must work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
* Maximum of 6 days of RTO; traveler must still work 3 shifts per week
* On-call required occasionally
* Assigned to NICU with floating required to sister facilities including Rady Main Campus, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps Mercy, Scripps La Jolla, and Palomar - notice given prior to shift
* Mid-shift floating may occasionally be required
* Mileage reimbursement provided when floating to locations other than home base facility
* Patient ratio: 1:2-3 for nights and weekends
* Patient population: Neonates 27 weeks gestational age and above
* Must have experience attending high-risk deliveries
* Must have experience with UAC, UVC, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), starting and maintaining IVs, and caring for neonates 29 weeks and above
* Will work in two EMR systems: Epic and Cerner; Epic experience preferred
* 2 years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* California RN license required
* Scrub color: Any color

This is a prestigious children's hospital and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with Magnet designation and a strong teaching focus. The NICU operates as a Level III unit with 13 beds and an average daily census of 9-10 patients. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and unit secretaries, ensuring comprehensive care for its neonatal patient population.
