RN - Cardiac PCU
Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; prior travel experience required
* First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position
* Every other weekend shift required
* Floating required to like units - travelers must be flexible
* Patient ratio is 1:4 across the board (may be 1:5 at midnight); 3:1 for high acuity and special procedures
* Self-scheduling unit
* Care for adult and geriatric patient populations
* Unit census of 32 with 36 beds total
* Epic experience is a hard stop requirement
* Surgical telemetry experience required, including open heart surgery and vascular (groin/radial band management)
* 2-3 years of telemetry experience required; VAD and TAVR experience optional
* Patient diagnoses include myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab with or without interventions, stroke patients with cardiac involvement, and specialized structural heart support (VAD, TAVR)
* Perform and manage breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, and sternal precautions
* Administer blood and blood products
* Perform cardioversion/defibrillation and epicardial pacer management
* Manage LVAD and open heart post-op patients (24-28 hours post-op)
* Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
* Manage stable cardiac drips including Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Antiarrhythmics, Beta Blockers, Cardizem, Hydralazine, Ketamine, Lasix, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, and Levophed
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
