Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

* 13 or 18 week contract available
* 3x12 hour shifts, variable days/nights or straight nights
* Schedule is published at the beginning of each month; shift rotation may change with each new schedule
* Must be flexible to work both days and nights within the contract period
* Patient ratios are 1:2 for days, nights, and weekends
* No on-call required
* Weekend flexibility required - must be available to work weekends when needed with no specific set weekend requirement
* Must work 2 out of 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's - no holiday RTO allowed
* Maximum of 6 days RTO per contract
* Hours are guaranteed after the call-off policy has been met
* 2 years of NICU Level 4 experience required; strong Level 3 surgical NICU experience may be considered if the Level 3 performs surgeries on newborns
* First-time travelers accepted with Level 4 experience
* Cardiac experience required
* California nursing license required
* Required certifications: BLS, Advanced NRP; PALS preferred
* Must be willing and able to float to PICU, CTICU, and Med Surg within scope of practice
* Must be willing to float to NICU satellite campuses including Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy; mileage reimbursed from home base location
* Must have own transportation
* Travelers will not be assigned patients over 2 years old; patient age groups include neonates, infants, and pediatrics
* High acuity surgical NICU with gestational age ranging from 22 weeks to term
* Common diagnoses include HIE/Cooling, CDH, NEC, and respiratory distress/failure
* Typical surgeries include gastroschisis, omphaloceles, abdominal surgeries, myelomeningoceles, fresh trachs, and g-tubes
* Required clinical skills include: oscillator, conventional ventilator, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, G-tubes, and comfort with line changes involving multiple drips, pre and post op care
* Special equipment includes: central lines, drips, vents, Video EEG, NIRS, incubators, and warmers
* Charting system: Epic
* Scrub color: Any color
* Free traveler parking available
* 36 orientation hours provided
