Job Details:
* Day shift position with variable weekend schedule required (every other weekend, minimum 6 weekend shifts per Saturday/Sunday per contract)
* No on-call requirements
* Patient ratio of 2:1 on days and nights
* Rotate through Labor & Delivery, circulator, baby RN, triage, and high-risk antepartum/postpartum roles
* Care for patient age groups including neonates, adolescents, and adults (women ages 13-60)
* Daily census of 15-20 patients across 22 L&D rooms, 4 ORs, 3 PACU, 4 triage, and 12 MFCU (high-risk antepartum) rooms
* Perform and assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk C-sections, multiples, D&C, IUPC/FSE placement and monitoring, and IUFD delivery and post-mortem preparation
* Operate cysto tower and use external/internal fetal monitoring equipment, infusion pumps, radiant warmers, and PCA
* Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Terbutaline, Prostaglandins, insulin drips, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, and opioids
* Provide breastfeeding and lactation support, neonatal resuscitation, and postpartum hemorrhage management
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, and more
* Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required (first-time travelers must have minimum 3 years L&D RN experience)
* High-risk antepartum and teaching hospital experience required
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Trauma Level I experience preferred
* No scheduling requests can be accommodated
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced
* Valid permanent California license must be active and in hand at time of submission (no pending or temporary licenses accepted)
* 2 supervisor-level references from within the past 1 year of employment required at time of submission

This is a large, high-volume teaching hospital and academic medical center delivering over 300 births per month across a comprehensive labor and delivery unit. The facility offers advanced specialty support services including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The unit supports a wide range of complex obstetric cases including high-risk antepartum, multiple gestations, and advanced surgical procedures in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
