Job Details:

* Variable weekend shifts required on an every other or as needed basis
* No on-call responsibilities
* Patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 depending on patient acuity
* Float required between all units; only patients under the age of 2 on pediatric units; travelers float first
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrub color: Any color
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* At least 1 year of NICU experience required
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Must be proficient with a broad range of neonatal skills including administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, bubble CPAP, central line care, high frequency ventilation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, neonatal dosage calculations, nitric oxide (iNO), oscillators, therapeutic hypothermia, tracheostomy care, UAC and UVC management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
* Additional skills include: anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, blood glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support and breast milk handling, central line blood draw, colostomy/ileostomy care, developmental care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), high flow nasal cannula, hyperbilirubinemia management, isolation precautions and PPE, meconium aspiration, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal sepsis, oxygen delivery systems, patient and family teaching, phlebotomy, phototherapy, placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, post abdominal surgery care, pre-cardiac surgery care, respiratory distress syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis work-up, starting and maintaining IVs, steroids, suctioning (ETT and NT), and surfactant administration
* Ventilators managed by respiratory therapy
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years (can include Charge RNs/Lead)
* 24 orientation hours included

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 total staffed beds. As a teaching hospital, it offers a comprehensive and collaborative care environment supported by robust interdisciplinary teams. The NICU unit has 61 beds with a daily census of 52 patients, specializing in neonatal care with access to advanced equipment and a wide range of specialty support services.
