RN - CV ICU
Job Details:
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2 with a 10-bed unit and average daily census of 7
* Work in a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) specializing in complex cardiac patients
* Care for patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
* Titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients
* Monitor and care for post-AAA repair patients requiring extended flat positioning
* Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with intensivist and care team at 10:00 AM Monday through Friday
* Intensivist present in the unit Monday through Friday
* Maintain effective communication between nurses, physicians, and care team
* Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
* Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
* No on-call requirements
* Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; RTO blackout dates include Spring Break (April 4th?12th)
* Holiday coverage expected: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two
* Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
Facility:
This facility is home to a specialized 10-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit dedicated to the care of complex cardiac patients. The unit operates with a free charge nurse model and features an intensivist present Monday through Friday, along with daily multidisciplinary rounds involving the full care team. The facility is supported by a robust interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation, ensuring comprehensive patient care across a wide range of cardiovascular diagnoses.
