Opportunity:
RN - Labor & Delivery (Break Nurse)
Job Details:
* Position is specifically designated as a Break Nurse role
* Shift times: Days 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and Nights 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend rotation every other weekend, variable based on need
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to the start of the schedule
* Block schedule cannot be guaranteed - will be utilized to fill in gaps in schedule
* Holiday rotation applies on a fair and equitable basis
* High acuity labor and delivery experience required including hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
* Must be able to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, perform cervical checks, and read and interpret fetal monitoring strips
* Ability to serve as a second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
* Minimum 2 years of experience required with previous travel experience; 5+ years preferred
* First-time travelers considered upon review
* Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, 1:2-3 antepartum dependent on acuity
* EPIC EMR experience required
* Equipment used includes Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
* Floating may occur to antepartum within L&D and occasionally to postpartum
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate FHM (AWHONN)
Facility:
This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU, offering comprehensive obstetric services across 34 labor and delivery beds including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED rooms, and 3 operating rooms, as well as 18 postpartum beds. The unit supports up to 300 deliveries per month and is staffed around the clock with laborists, residents, fellows, anesthesia, and respiratory therapy. The facility provides robust support services including CNA support, scrub technicians, charge nurses, phlebotomy, and a dedicated break nurse program with 2 break nurses scheduled per shift.
