Job Details:
* 26-week assignment with night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period; traveler may be called off for 1 twelve-hour shift per 2 weeks
* Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend and is subject to staffing needs
* May float to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and med/surg to meet facility needs
* Bedside RN patient ratio of 1:4; CNA patient ratio of 1:6
* Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model utilized on unit each patient has 1 bedside RN, 1 Virtual RN, and 1 CNA
* Virtual nurse works remotely and assists with admission, discharge, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds
* Care for a wide variety of patient populations including cardiac (30%), respiratory, neuro, renal, and complex medical-surgical patients
* Cardiac patients include CHF, MI, post-TAVR, MVR, pacemaker, cardiac arrhythmia, drug load, Angiovac, and ACS patients
* Respiratory patients include COPD, asthma exacerbations, trach patients (>24 hours since placement), chronic home ventilators, high flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP
* Complex medical-surgical patients requiring higher level of monitoring (e.g., ETOH withdrawal, GIB)
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Scrubs provided by facility
* Parking is free
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Local candidates not accepted permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Key skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, pacemaker management, tracheostomy care, TAVR management, wound care, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, among others
* Special equipment includes Philips Monitors in each room, Massimo Capnography, and safe patient handling equipment
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of submittal
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day

This is an acute care hospital recognized as a Magnet Facility, Level II Trauma Center, and a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital in its state. With 407 total staffed beds, the facility offers a comprehensive range of services supported by an interdisciplinary team including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries. The PCU is a stepdown unit from the ICU with 36 beds, serving a diverse and complex patient population across multiple disciplines.
