Opportunity:

Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit RN

Job Details:

* Work 3x12 night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, weekdays with some weekend shifts required
* Typical patient ratio of 1:4 with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies
* Block scheduling available for weekend blocks only (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
* Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
* 13-week contract with possibility of extension
* Minimum 1 year of Medical/Telemetry experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience required
* Must be able to read telemetry strips
* Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS (must be through American Heart Association)
* Required skills: IV starts and telemetry monitoring
* Proficiency with BiPAP/CPAP management, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, heparin protocols, and IV insulin protocols required
* Experience with central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care required
* Ability to manage and interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases required
* Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
* Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with primarily cardiac diagnoses including cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures
* Unit consists of 36 beds with a daily census of 34
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
* WV or Compact nursing license required; pending license accepted for submission

This healthcare facility operates a Stepdown and Immediate Care Unit focused primarily on cardiac patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology procedures. The unit also serves medical/surgical patients with varying acuity levels, functioning similarly to a Progressive Care or Telemetry unit. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
